So Spring/Summer busted out all over.   Not a lot of BBQing this year because of the rain.   I have road trip bucket list and Normandy was on it.  This year, I was lucky to have the opportunity to have an extensive road trip to the D-Day Beaches, the coastal cities in the area and the general countryside.   Since it was the beginning of June the flowers were in full bloom, especially the roses.  Here’s some pics:  Honfleur, Veules Les Roses, Dieppe, Etretat...
We were also fortunate to be in Sainte Mere Eglise and Pointe du Hoc for D-Day June 6th.

While on the same trip to France in June, we were invited to attend the 30th anniversary of Diner en Blanc.   The event theme is Everything is White.   Your clothes and all accessories.  You bring your own standard sized table, the tablecloth, the napkins – all white.   You bring your own food - appetizers, main course, dessert, wine – no hard liquor.   The couple next to us had all white food – they were committed to the concept.   You are assigned to the group with leaders that escort you to the secret location and when you arrive, help your group line up the tables and get settled.  I was a little nervous about attending what is basically a pop-up party for 14,000 people.   I get antsy when I’m around more than 6 people.  I was fascinated by how calm and orderly everyone was.  The clothes were elegant and creative.  The roving orchestras were fun and talented.  An excellent evening to do one time only.  

We were meeting a cousin for lunch in Dieppe.  On the way home, we dropped by Chateau de Miromesnil (it was on the visit list).   The castle interior was closed but we were lucky to visit their famous ‘potager’ (kitchen and flower garden.   If you have the opportunity, it’s worth trip to see the grounds, the goats and the garden.

These poor flowers made it through three flash Northeast storms, including  thundersnow.   Yes, that was a thing.  Then whatever had them for lunch last year walked right on by.  I guess their cloaking devise works.  Come on Spring, we're ready for you.

The Easter Feast.  Menu change from leg of lamb to 6 racks of lamb and sides - sauteed potatoes, ham, mac and cheese, and tomato salad.  Not shown:  pear tarte, sauteed green beans, and peas with pearl onions.  The table was full to bursting.  The kids ate their veg without complaint.

Well 2017 is almost at an end and the new year is soon.    Thank you family and friends and Bon Courage for 2018.  Here's some desserts, because you know sometimes it better just to look than eat.  Bon Appetit!

Black Friday is around the corner and therefore so is Christmas.   It feels like I just recovered from the last one.   I signed up for #AmazonPrime last fall and boy I had fun for a couple of weeks.   Anyway, summer meant BBQ’ng Saturday and Sunday with anyone who wanted the charcoal experience vs gas. This summer’s menu included Hanger Steak, leg of lamb, prime rib steak, paella, salmon steaks, lobster tails, assorted grilled veg and fruit.   I’m working on next summer’s grilling experience now.   Who’s hungry?

Shame on me.  Three months have zoomed by and I haven’t posted anything.  At least, I’m consistent.  FYI, in France if you say a man is ‘inconsistent’, you are saying he is impotent.  So travelers BEWARE when you are throwing around someone else’s vocabulary!  
 
Anyhoo, I’ve been pretty busy creating designs for Red Bubble, making pastries, and trying to learn SEO.  And not in that order.   Here's what's new:

So, in an effort to diversify, I've been creating some designs on RedBubble.   Designing for leggings and pencil skirts intrigued me but lets face it, I only wear solid black or navy (Fire Monkey thing).   My solution, create the tops that would go with the solid black leggings or pencil skirt - and throw in a scarf for style.   That way I can order a complete outfit.  How brilliant am I?   Here's what is available now.  I'll update this post going forward.   This is about pattern tops and solid bottoms.

I'd just like to say that this is my sign - Fire Monkey and it's supposed be unlucky for me when it comes around.  Yeah.
So in order to ward off bad luck, I've been wearing the color red every day, the one jade earring I have and keeping a low profile.  When behind the wheel, I also hum "Don't worry be happy" and keep happy thoughts towards others. 
Then my sister told me not to wear read in urban areas because it's a gang color.  Sigh.  There are a bunch of other things to do and avoid that I will try to remember.  So, I have 10 more months of serpentining (not a word).  Wish me luck!
